We designed the straight skirt to be super simple for beginners. It features straight seams to practise your stitching and an elasticated waistband for an easy fit – with no fiddly zips or buttonholes! Choose from knee length or above-the-knee hemline, and add the optional turnover top patch pockets.
The flared version of the skirt is slightly more challenging, as it’s cut on the bias and we suggest a drapier fabric for a flowing silhouette. Choose from knee length or on-trend midi hemline, with optional turnover top pockets, belt loops and elegant sash.
Like all Tilly and the Buttons sewing patterns, Dominique includes instructions in plain English, helpful sewing tips, and colour photos showing you each step – making it easy for you to create gorgeous clothes you can be proud to say you made yourself.
To make this project you will need (all sizes)
Fabric – Straight skirt with pockets: 1.1m x 150cm wide / 1.5m x 115cm wide

Endlessly versatile, it looks so different depending on the fabric you pick and the details you add. Go utility chic with a choice of three pockets, optional flaps and belt loops – or leave them off for an understated look.
It has a flattering shape thanks to the curved fitted waistband, princess seams at the back and slim-look bib on the pinafore. Bobbi will be a go-to garment in your me-made wardrobe.

We have wooden and plastic hoops in a wide variety of sizes.
The plastic ones have a ridge inside so they hold your piece in place and come in the most beautiful colours, they have a silver coloured screw.
The wooden ones are natural wood with a brass screw. -

The kit includes: 5 of our 50x50cm cotton fabric squares, a pack of 10 small reels of sewing thread, snippers, a small tomato pin cushion, tape measure, needles, seam ripper, thimble, needle threader, buttons, poppers, a box of pins and safety pins.
Either treat yourself to this perfect starter kit or give someone a nudge to get crafting. A great gift for some who’s just received a sewing machine, but not necessary to have a sewing machine to use the kit!

Embroidery Thread Bundle
£6.00These embroidery thread bundles are the perfect accompaniment to our Zenbroidery kits!
Each bundle contains 10 skeins of thread – we currently stock 2 brands: duchess and trimits. All of the skeins are 6 strands of 100% cotton thread and 8 metres long.
There’s 4 colour bundles to choose from! These are:
Summer Brights: All of our most colourful and bold threads – think bright yellows, pinks and greens!
Autumn Vintage: A more subtle palette of soft blues, greens, deep reds and matching pastels.
Winter Freeze: A gorgeous mix of snowy whites and creams, with added cold blues, greys and deep reds.
Spring Pastel: Lovely light pinks, lilacs and mint!All of our mixes vary depending on what we have in the shop so may be different to what you see in the photos, but we promise they will always be a lovely mix of co-ordinating threads in the theme you’ve chosen.
